RAG Foundations

RAG Foundations covers the first half of the retrieval pipeline. The section starts with the reason RAG exists: models need trusted external knowledge. Then it builds the storage mental model: content becomes chunks, chunks become embeddings, embeddings live in vector indexes, and retrieval returns evidence for generation.
