Volume 6
Volume 6 - Prompt Engineering
Volume 6 follows one production job through twelve chapters: an illustrative SaaS company's support-ticket router, which turns about 20,000 tickets a day into a six-field JSON record. Each chapter changes one part of the router and measures the change against the same 500 labelled tickets and a target of $1.00 per 1,000 tickets at September 2026 list prices. The first four chapters shape a single request, the next four spend more computation on it, and the last four make the prompt a release artifact, ending in a design review where the more expensive of two passing designs wins on total cost.

What This Volume Covers
Read the sections in order if you are building from scratch. Experienced readers can jump to a section, but the chapters are sequenced to build vocabulary, mental models, implementation judgment, and architecture readiness.
